Treasury releases Ksh.14.5B funding for
public schools
Dr. Belio Kipsang, the Principal Secretary for Early Learning
and Basic Education on Friday confirmed the disbursement.
“Some Ksh.13.2billion has been sent to secondary schools
under the Free Day Secondary Education (FDSE) while Ksh.
1.2 billion has been sent to public primary schools under the
Free Primary Education programs,” a statement from the
ministry said.
Schools are scheduled to reopen from October 12 following
six months of closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Education CS George Magoha said the progressive re-
opening will begin with pupils in Grade 4 and Class Eight as
well as students in Form Four.
